The 6th World Summit took place from 13–16 January 2014 in Santiago, Chile co-hosted by the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) and the former National Council for Culture and Arts, Chile (Consejo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes) now the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage.

The 6th World Summit explored the theme Creative Times: new models for cultural development and addressed how globalisation, shifts in social and economic development and new forms of communication generated an array of challenges and opportunities within the cultural field, with an impact that transcends the sector. The 6th World Summit was the first World Summit held in Latin America and brought together key decision-makers and actors from the region involved in the challenges of funding the arts and supporting the development of the creative industries and the cultural development of communities; and profiled and promoted to the world, the developments, initiatives and achievements in arts and culture of the Latin American region. The Summit brought together more than 400 delegates from 68 countries.



 

About the National Council for Culture and Arts, Chile

The National Council for Culture and Arts (CNCA) was the Chilean Government’s entity in charge of implementing public policies for cultural development. Since 2018, the functions of the National Council have been the responsibility of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, which was established by law in 2017. The Ministry is now the National Member for Chile within the Federation.
